An opportunity for young Aboriginal entrepreneurs to win money for their ideas is coming to the University of Saskatchewan later this month.
Starting on January 24, Aboriginal entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to create a business plan and compete for $10,000 in start-up money through the Aboriginal Youth Idea Challenge, put on by the U of S Enactus program.
“There is a strong Aboriginal culture and identity in Saskatchewan and we really wanted to offer our help to that community,” said AYIC project leader Preston Thomson. “When you look at the youth of Canada in a whole there are a lot of Aboriginal youth out there and we really wanted to tap into that potential.”
AYIC is a business idea competition for Aboriginal youth aged 16-35 and will be held over an eight-week period.
After the many workshops and sessions, the two best ideas will be selected and will receive their share of the $10,000 presented by PotashCorp.
