Those interested in northern Saskatchewan history are invited to a special event Tuesday afternoon in Air Ronge.
The Northern Saskatchewan Archives is hosting an open house from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. which will feature five new displays of photos.
Event organizer Graham Guest says the displays will feature photos from three recently published books on the north.
“It happens that three new books came out this year where all have a relevance to northern Saskatchewan,” he says.
Photos featured will be from Harold Kemp’s Northern Trader, Hope Pederson’s The Saskatchewan Smoke Jumpers and Alan Nunn’s From Lac La Ronge Country.
Guest also says the event gives the general public the opportunity to view materials on various topics of historical interest they would otherwise not be able to see.
“We have a lot of collections of photographs especially and also documents which are never seen by the public, really, unless you do something like this.”
The Northern Saskatchewan Archives are located in the Pahkisimon Nuye?ah Library
The event is being held as part of Saskatchewan Archives Week.
