Cameco and Creative Kids Saskatchewan have announced a new partnership to increase opportunities for cultural programming in northern Saskatchewan.
A three year investment of $90 thousand dollars will be used to set up the Cameco Creative Kids Northern Cultural Fund to provide funding for northern programs.
“Creative Kids is all about eliminating barriers for children and youth wanting to access cultural activities,” said Christie Nenson, Fund Development for Creative Kids Saskatchewan. “Cameco’s support of Creative Kids provides the opportunity to establish programs that will support cultural activities and enable creative programs where needed.”
Creative Kids is a program of SaskCulture, which provides all of the operation funding to administer the program.
“Cultural programming and creative activities are fundamental to the positive growth and development of our children and youth, and critical to supporting healthy and vibrant communities,” said Pat Grayston, president of SaskCulture. “I am a former high school teacher and I have witnessed the difference that culture can make to a student that does not have a capacity for their own inner growth and it is amazing what this access does to this student’s self-worth.”
Cameco will be providing %100 of the funding for the program.
“This is a combination of really good ingredients that ultimately we hope will make a difference for youth in northern Saskatchewan and we can’t wait to see the applications come in,” said Johnathan Huntington, Manager of Community Investment for Cameco. “We want to make a difference in the areas where we live, work and operate and this is all about northern Saskatchewan.”
New and existing cultural programs can apply for funding under the Cameco Creative Kids Northern Cultural Fund.
Deadline for applications is on May 1, 2015.
