High winds caused a grass fire to get out of control near a First Nation in northwest Saskatchewan on Wednesday afternoon.

At last word, the Loon Lake Fire Department was on the scene of a fire that was burning north of town and on the north east portion of Makwa Sahgaiechan First Nation.

The RCMP says no houses have been damaged because of the fire.

Makwa Sahgaiechan and Loon Lake recently reached a new deal regarding fire services between the two communities.

The new agreement was reached after a fatal house fire on the reserve claimed the lives of two toddlers in February.
