Prince Albert-based Athabasca Basin Development has become the majority owner of West Wind Aviation.
The investment firm has purchased the shares formerly owned by Meadow Lake Tribal Council Resource Development.
The ABD head office is in Saskatoon and company spokesperson Kristy Jackson says it should be a solid investment for shareholders.
“Athabasca Basin Development initially purchased ownership in West Wind in 2012 and recently the opportunity to increase our investment came up, Meadow Lake Tribal Council Resource Development sold their ownership so as a result we’ve increased our ownership in West Wind Aviation from 29 per cent to 54.85 per cent.”
Jackson says the purchase will not mean changes for West Wind staff or customers.
“Existing management and employees will continue to operate the business as usual and customers can expect the same excellent service that West Wind is known for, but as the mining sector continues to expand over the next several decades there is definitely potential for expansion.”
The other owners of West Wind Aviation are Prince Albert Development LP and the West Wind employee group.
