Since 1988 urban reserves have made significant economic and social contributions to the City of Saskatoon.

The city recently created community profiles that contain a wide range of information about the 11 First Nation communities that own land in Saskatoon.

Director of Aboriginal relations Gilles Dorval says the profiles will help tell the economic story and the contribution of urban reserves.

He says First Nations are starting to ride the wave of the economic activity in Saskatoon and around the province.

“Some of the First Nations are moving quite quickly, White Cap Dakota First Nation being one,” says Dorval. “Other First Nations are just starting to ride the wave of economic activity here in Saskatoon and in Saskatchewan.”

The list of communities that own land in Saskatoon include Cowessess, English River, Little Pine, Mistawasis, Moosomin, Muskeg Lake, One Arrow, Red Pheasant, Saulteaux, Whitecap and Yellow Quill.
