Efforts to build a casino in the City of Lloydminster have paid off for the Little Pine First Nation.
The FSIN today passed a resolution to build a new SIGA casino in the border city.
The host tribal council consists of 10 bands, with Onion Lake and Little Pine investing the most money in the project.
Little Pine Chief Wayne Semaganis says the bands who invest the most will have the greater say in the business decisions.
Semaganis hopes to host a sod-turning event early next month.
The cost of the casino project won’t be known until the size of the building is determined.
Lloydminster city council previously approved the necessary zoning changes to allow for the development.
Little Pine and the city have also signed a municipal services agreement for the urban reserve that will be the site of the casino.
