CIBC presented a $175,000 cheque to the University of Regina this morning to fund bursaries for aboriginal students.
The money will go to 18 students pursuing degrees in business administration, economics and computer sciences.
The CIBC’s director of commercial banking, Shannon Jakes, says aboriginal students are a growing and important part of Saskatchewan’s economy.
About 11% of the university’s student population is aboriginal.
The number has been steadily increasing every year.
