First Nations Chiefs, leaders and industry stakeholders from northern Saskatchewan are holding several meetings in Ottawa today.

The leaders and representatives from Cameco are meeting with federal officials to discuss the positive collaborations borne out of the partnership between the Saskatchewan based company and these northern communities.

The group began their meetings yesterday and will be speaking with members from all three national political parties as well as different Aboriginal and natural resource groups.

The main talking points during the meetings will be on how the partnership between Cameco and these communities has helped improve the areas of education and infrastructure in the north.

Black Lake, English River, Fond du Lac, Hatchet Lake and Pinehouse are among the northern communities represented.  Representatives from Cameco, Athabasca Basin Development, the Prince Albert Grand Council and Des Nehe Developments are also attending the meetings.

A spokesperson for Cameco says the unprecedented trip will produce great dialogue between northern leaders and federal officials.

He says he is excited to see what will unfold from the meetings.
