Statistics Canada says the crime rate in northern Saskatchewan is higher than northern areas anywhere else in Canada.
The federal agency says there were nearly 55,000 crimes reported per 100,000 people in northern Saskatchewan in 2013 — six times as high as the rate in southern Saskatchewan.
Mischief and disturbing the peace were the most commonly reported troubles.
Canada-wide, the crime rate per 100,000 population was nearly 4,750 in southern areas, and more than 11,670 in the north.
