West Wind Aviation has officially purchased Pronto Airways, but it says minimal changes will come from the acquisition.
The Saskatchewan aviation company previously owned 40 per cent of Pronto before officially purchasing the company.
“It was a very good relationship with Pronto,” says Dennis Baranieski, Vice President of Business Development and Customer Relations with West Wind. “We saw a bright future for West Wind Aviation to have a greater ownership in Pronto so the acquisition culminated in April.”
Baranieski says Pronto employees will now become West Wind employees and other changes to employment are not expected to be made.
“We are excited to have a long relationship serving northern Saskatchewan and the Athabasca Basin community,” says Baranieski.
As to what will happen to the Pronto Airways brand, Baranieski says it is too early to tell.
Athabasca Basin Development recently purchased shares to become the majority owner of West Wind Aviation.
The development corporation represents all seven communities in Saskatchewan’s far north.
