A new political movement is emerging to get First Nations and Metis people out to vote in the upcoming federal election.
The Coalition to Elect a Fair Government is comprised of former Indian Residential School students and other like-minded thinkers.
Grant Severight says the coalition wants to make the recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission a major election issue.
“What we see in terms of the Conservative response, we know it’s going to be minimal. I don’t think they really believe this harm actually happened. Their whole notion is: “Let’s bring closure and let’s move on’.”
Severight says the coalition will make a public announcement next week about their organizing efforts.
