A state of emergency has been declared for two northern Saskatchewan communities.
Wildfire Management officials say fire and smoke are threatening the communities of Sikachu Lake and Clam Lake Bridge and a general evacuation has been ordered.
They say the fires arose late Wednesday afternoon putting both areas in a local state of emergency.
So far, those are the only two communities directly affected by the fires and officials will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.
Chief Tammy Cook-Searson says they have begun to move people from the communities to Hall Lake and are in the process of making arrangements for further accommodations.
She says many people stayed with friends and family during a recent evacuation and they are trying to determine who will need further accommodations.
Cook-Searson says information about the fires and the state of emergency will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
