Several hundred people of different races and cultures also made their way to a TRC event in Saskatoon to celebrate today’s historic event.

The mood of everyone gathered was one of joy and celebration as FSIN Interim Chief Kimberley Jonathan called today’s gathering one of hope and healing.

“I hope that everyone will be on the path of healing and we can have understanding and education about what happened during those years and the shameful mark on Canada and that it doesn’t need to stay there and we can create an effective change for tomorrow,” said Chief Jonathan.

The vice-chief says now is the time to move forward and called on the government to implement all of the TRC Recommendations.

Many of today’s speakers in Saskatoon also praised Justice Murray Sinclair for his hard work for First Nations people across the country.
