Several utility companies in the north are also facing their own challenges while crews battle the fires.

The community of Pinehouse was without power for almost a week, but SaskPower crews were able to get the power back on yesterday evening.

Spokesperson Johnathan Tremblay says the work had to stop multiple times because fire was threatening the workers.

“Over the last week we have had to replace over three kilometres of line, which is not an easy task in the north without the fires, but as of late yesterday (Tuesday) evening the power is back on in the Pinehouse area,” said Tremblay.

Tremblay says now that Pinehouse is back online no other major infrastructure is currently threatened by fire.

Spokes persons for both SaskEnergy and SaskTel also say their infrastructure is safe from the fires at this time.

Dave Burdeniuk with SaskEnergy says they are standby to restore services to communities when called upon.

“We didn’t have damage to any of our facilities, so basically we are in standby and putting plans in place to restore service whenever we need to do that,” said Burdeniuk.

All three utilities do say they will continue to monitor the situation and act accordingly.
