A 24-year-old man is facing nearly a dozen charges after a police-involved shooting on the Red Earth First Nation.
The incident happened Saturday evening when Carrot River RCMP were called to an assault at a home on the reserve.
Police say when officers arrived, a man outside the home fired a shot at them.
An RCMP member fired back and the man took off on foot.
Reserve resident Mario Whitehead was later found with gunshot wounds and taken to hospital in Saskatoon.
The list of charges against him includes attempted murder, careless use of a firearm, assault and mischief.
Whitehead will be appearing in provincial court once he recovers from his injuries.
The RCMP has requested the Saskatoon Police Service conduct an independent external investigation into the incident.
