Rob Clarke says he’s already inquired about what a Tory campaign promise to help steer youth away from gangs could look like in northern Saskatchewan.

Earlier this month, the Conservatives promised to increase funding for youth gang prevention if they are re-elected.

The incumbent MP says the funds aim to reduce youth gang violence by reaching out to at-risk youth.

“And you see that take place when you see incremental such as in Ile a la Crosse where funding has gone in previously for the youth centre,” he says. “You’re seeing youth get off the street and keeping actively involved in activities, and that’s what we’re trying to do.”

The Youth Gang Prevention Fund was launched by the Conservatives in 2006.
