The forest fires in Northern Saskatchewan this past summer created a lot of heartache for people who lost homes and property.

The La Ronge Ice Wolves weren’t spared either, the team was not able to hold numerous fundraising events due to the disaster, but now help is on the way thanks to the SJHL.

“We are basically getting the cut of the 50/50 for the four days that the Showcase is on,” said Ice Wolves President, Mike Bell. “The league is trying to help us out in any way they can, to help compensate, so we are not in a great loss this year.”

Bell also said through two days of the Showcase in Warman around $1,000 was generated from 50/50 draws, which will be handed over to the Ice Wolves.

“We’re very grateful, it just shows that the league does care about its teams and they want every team to succeed,” said Bell.
