A man who escaped from the Saskatchewan Penitentiary on Sunday night was caught in Saskatoon on Monday morning.

Around 9:30 Sunday night, guards at the Prince Albert-area prison’s minimum security unit were alerted that Jesse Grant McMullen was missing.

Just before noon on Monday, Saskatoon police apprehended the 20-year-old. He had been described as 5 foot 9, with fair skin, blond hair, and blue eyes.

McMullen has been in prison on a number of charges – including robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, and disguise with intent. That has netted him a three-year sentence.

He’ll likely have a few more charges to add onto that for being unlawfully at large.
