Underground mining activities have been restricted at Cameco’s Rabbit Lake operation.
Company officials say after the reopening of an inactive area of the Eagle Point mine, a fall of rock was discovered in a tunnel.
No groundwater inflow to the mine was found, but as a precaution, 40 non-essential personnel were removed from the mine.
Activities were restricted while the affected area is assessed.
Production mining at Eagle Point is temporarily suspended.
The Rabbit Lake mill continues to operate as usual.
