A man accused of killing a boy near Muskoday First Nation, while driving under the influence, is heading to pre-trial.

Gordon Morris Crain, in his 50s, is charged in the death of an 11-year-old who’d been biking near the Muskoday Bridge on Highway 3 on July 26, 2014.

The boy was taken to the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert where he later succumbed to his injuries. Crain was released on bail, with conditions, on Aug. 6, 2014.

Crain had his final preliminary hearing on Tuesday in Prince Albert, and his matter is now committed for trial.

He’d previously entered not guilty pleas to criminal negligence causing bodily harm, criminal negligence causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.

Crain has opted for trial by judge alone. Pre-trial dates will be set in coming weeks, and will be held at Prince Albert’s Court of Queen’s Bench.
