A federal government mediator will try to find some common ground between two political factions that have the Metis Nation-Saskatchewan on the brink of collapse.

On Saturday in Saskatoon, the Provincial Metis Council (PMC) for the Metis Nation-Saskatchewan (MN-S) will meet with a federal government appointed mediator to try and resolve the issues that has prevented the organization from holding a legislative assembly.

As a result of not holding assemblies the federal government suspended the funding for the MN-S.

Fish Lake Metis Local president Bryan Lee says the meeting may be the last chance the MN-S has to resolve their internal differences.

He says MN-S president Robert Doucette and vice president Gerald Morin are expected to be at this meeting.

Lee says the federal government could restore funding to the MN-S if an agreement can be reached at Saturday’s meeting.
