The man accused of abducting a teenaged girl and killing her boyfriend in La Ronge almost a year ago has been committed to stand trial on a charge of first-degree murder.
Jonas Budd made a court appearance by video link earlier today in La Ronge Provincial Court.
The abduction triggered an Amber Alert which culminated in the girl being found safe and Budd surrendering to police after a 12-hour standoff in Sturgeon Landing.
Budd is facing numerous other charges, including kidnapping with a weapon, break and enter and uttering threats.
His next court appearance on those charges is scheduled for March in La Ronge.
A trial date for the murder charge has yet to be set, but it will be held in Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench.
He remains in custody.
