***UPDATE – RCMP have charged 32-year-old Curtis Brian Black of Prince Albert with several offences, including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.  Black will be making his first court appearance in Melfort on Tuesday.

 

The RCMP’s Major Crime Unit is investigating a stabbing on the James Smith Cree Nation.

It happened late Saturday afternoon.

The 30-year-old male victim was transported by ambulance to Melfort Hospital and then later transported to a Saskatoon hospital by STARS air ambulance.

Mounties say the victim suffered a single stab wound, and at last word he was in stable condition with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

About two hours after the stabbing, a 32-year-old man was taken into custody by Melfort RCMP.

The investigation continues.
