3 Canadian companies say they are joining in the process of reconciliation as was requested by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
The TRC released 94 calls to action and among them was a call to the corporate community to embrace reconciliation.
Saskatchewan’s Affinity Credit Union, Manitoba’s Assiniboine Credit Union and BC’s Vancity Savings Credit Union say they have all signed a joint declaration on reconciliation.
All of these three companies are the three Canadian members of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values.
The three companies say they welcome the opportunity to engage fully in the reconciliation process.
Spokespersons from the three credit unions say the joint declaration is a vital step toward healing and progress between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians, specifically in the private sector.
The declaration was signed at a National Reconciliation Gathering in Winnipeg on Friday.
