Students from 26 different schools in the Prince Albert Grand Council will be displaying their talent at the 25th annual PAGC Fine Arts Festival this week.
The art festival is set to kick off at Allan Bird Memorial Gymnasium in Prince Albert Monday afternoon with a grand entry.
Dignitaries from the Prince Albert Grand Council, the FSIN, the City of Prince Albert — as well as several students competing in the week-long event — will be at the grand entry.
Organizer Shona Stapleton says the arts festival has built its own legacy over the past 25 years.
“For 25 years, for an event such as this to not only stay strong, but to increase in popularity, is huge,” says Stapleton. “You don’t see too many events last 25 years unless it’s sports.”
Students have been practicing for the arts festival since the beginning of the school year.
Stapleton also says they will be bringing in mentors like local artists to help guide the students.
“They will be talking about reaching for your dreams and how to get there and some of the challenges you may face,” she says. “But really, just how important it is to have dreams.”
Throughout the four-day event, about 1,700 students of all ages will participate in several different showcases including visual art, drama, dance, music and literature.
All students will have their work adjudicated.
