Aboriginal graduates from high school and university were honoured at the University of Saskatchewan Wednesday at the graduation Powwow.
110 University graduates and 380 Grade 12 graduates were honoured during the Powwow.
1300 children from 39 schools across the province were also be in attendance for the celebration.
The event was scheduled to take place outside at the University bowl, but the festivities were moved inside the Physical Activity Complex because of the possibility of rain.
The change of location didn’t hamper the excitement of those in attendance as the energy was high for the morning’s grand entry.
Several dignitaries, dancers and students took part in the grand entry.
The graduates were honoured in two different ceremonies with the High School graduates being honoured in the morning and the U of S graduates honoured in the afternoon.
In addition to honouring the graduates, hundreds of dancers, drummers and singers of all ages from across North America will be taking place in competitions throughout the day.
Roughly $25,000 in prize money is up for grabs.
