Seven thousand new trees will be planted in the burned out forest at the Nemeiben Campground as part of a unique partnership involving a Saskatchewan designer and the provincial government.
Using slices of burned trees recovered from Lac La Ronge Provincial Park, tentree has created 700 T-shirts — each with a unique profile of the tree.
For each item sold, ten trees will be planted.
“We couldn’t have found a more meaningful and unique opportunity to plant in our backyard,” says tentree creative director Arthur Kononuk. “Our partnership with SaskParks is a momentous step towards revitalizing the forests of our nation.”
The project was unveiled last night in Regina during Saskatchewan Fashion Week.
Planting will begin next month.
