The Ochapowace Thunder Jr. B Hockey Team will not be on the ice this season in the PJHL because the organization is taking a one-year leave of absence from the PJHL.
Danny McKay, who served as the team’s GM this past season, cited lack of commitment from some of the local players as one of the reasons for the hiatus.
“We spend a lot of money on this organization and to run a team,” said McKay. “I’d like to spend more of that money on our own kids — from our own backyard, rather than spend it developing other communities’ kids.”
McKay also mentioned they will be monitoring the situation to see what the future holds for the Ochapowace Thunder following the 2016-2017 campaign.
The Thunder finished a league-worst 0-40 this past season in the PJHL.
