It has been open for a couple of years, but the Churchill Community High School Daycare in La Ronge is celebrating its grand opening today.
The daycare has a licensed capacity of 32 children, providing childcare for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.
Since its pilot opening in November, 2014, the daycare has welcomed several children whose parents study in the high school.
The daycare is available to students attending Churchill Community High School, Northlands College and NORTEP and offers reserved spots for the Teen Support Centre.
Drop-ins are also available for the general public, room permitting.
The facility currently cares for 29 children AREVA Resources has donated $30,000 to the daycare over three years – something daycare director Wanda McCallum appreciates.
“We are very thankful for the donation,” says McCallum. “The Churchill daycare has plans for the donation from AREVA. We are planning to set up a playground in the backyard for the children of the daycare.”
The remaining $10,000 of the donation was delivered today.
