Two men have been fined a total of $8,400 for unlawfully hunting moose in the Saskatoon area.

The fines stem from November 2014 when the Ministry of Environment received a call to the Turn In Poacher’s Line.

Conservation officers then found a vehicle in the reported area with two men towing a trailer with an untagged bull moose in it.

The officers were able to determine the moose was illegally shot in an area where there was no open season for moose at that time.

Steven Bullock, 35, of Langham, recently pleaded guilty to unlawful hunting and possession of a moose. He was fined $5,600 and also received a four-year hunting license suspension.

Gerald Honsinger, 57, from Saskatoon, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a moose. He was fined $2,800 and has lost his hunting privileges for one year.

A third man, who helped load and transport the moose, donated $1,000 to local charities.
