An 11-year-old student carrying a knife at a school on the One Arrow First Nation temporarily caused the school to be placed under lockdown earlier today.
RCMP say the student was holed up in the Grade 5 classroom at the Almightyvoice Education Centre when they got the call over the noon hour.
There were no other students in the classroom.
Mounties eventually were able to secure the knife and take the student into custody without anyone getting hurt, and the lockdown at the school was lifted.
RCMP say the student was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken by police with his family to Prince Albert’s Victoria Hospital for assessment.
