A man from Kamsack has been fined $1,200 after being found guilty of two illegal hunting charges.

The incident, southwest of the town of Pelly, was reported to the Turn In Poachers line in October 2015.

Conservation officers say 39-year-old Robert Severight was hunting under his treaty rights, but he was on private land without permission.

It was after dark and he was using a spotlight within 500 metres of a residence.

The use of a spotlight is prohibited in Saskatchewan, except on reserves and subject to band bylaws.

Officials say Severight was also fined in 2014 for not getting proper landowner permission to hunt.
