The preliminary hearing for Gerald Stanley is underway in North Battleford, he’s accused in last summer’s shooting death of Colten Boushie.
The 22-year-old from Red Pheasant First Nation died after being shot on a farm in the Biggar area.
The hearing has generated a lot of interest. Overflow seating is set up for people to watch by video from a separate courtroom.
Mounties have blocked a number of intersections around court, and there is a heavy police presence both outdoors and indoors.
Evidence presented in this week long proceeding is protected by a publication ban.
