RCMP say an alleged threat was made to a high school in La Ronge earlier today, which prompted a controlled evacuation.

Mounties assisted with the controlled evacuation of Churchill Community High School after receiving the complaint of the threat shortly before 1 p.m.

RCMP are refusing to be more specific about the nature of the threat, but sources have told MBC it was a bomb threat.

A search of the school was conducted and RCMP say nothing suspicious was located.

Parents were earlier sent a notification that students were being taken to the Kikinahk Friendship Centre and that buses were being arranged to take students home.

A statement from the Northern Lights School Division called the situation a “safety incident”, and said mental health services are ready to be deployed if necessary.

The school division and RCMP confirmed the safety of all students and staff.
