A 14-year-old male entered a guilty plea today in relation to the April death of La Ronge business owner Simon Grant.

The teen, who can’t be named, had originally been charged with second-degree murder, but has entered a plea to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

Grant’s widow, Cora Laich, was in court today with her daughter.

“I am grateful for the guilty plea,” said Laich. “It does provide some closure for myself and my family.”

The teen’s next court appearance is scheduled for February 26 in La Ronge court.

In October, a 19-year-old man, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the case, was handed a seven-year prison sentence.

Last month, a charge being an accessory after the fact to murder laid against an 18-year-old suspect was stayed.

A fourth suspect, who is charged with second-degree murder in the case, a 17-year-old male, is scheduled to appear in court next month.
