The La Ronge 89ers of the Beaver Lakes Senior Hockey League won’t be taking part in playoffs this season.
The 89ers say a lack of players is the main reason the team is withdrawing from the postseason.
“It’s been pretty bothersome because we had a roster that I believe we could’ve won the championship with,” said Kevin Roberts, the manager of the 89ers. “We needed the support of our local guys to be showing up regularly, and it just wasn’t happening – that’s the unfortunate part.”
Roberts said whether or not the team will return next season is still up in the air.
“We don’t know at this point,” said Roberts.
The 89ers joined the Beaver Lakes Senior Hockey League back in 2015. La Ronge finished this season with a 4-6 record.
