Two La Ronge area authors have been shortlisted for a provincial book award.
The shortlist for the 25th annual Saskatchewan Book Awards was announced on Friday.
The awards celebrates excellence in books from a wide range of genres and diverse cultural heritages.
Several different categories are included in the awards including include poetry, fiction, non-fiction, children’s literature, and more. The awards are also separated between writing and publishing.
“We are celebrating 25 years of excellence in writing and publishing in Saskatchewan this year,” says SBA Executive Director Courtney Bates-Hardy in a media release. “We’re very proud of this year’s shortlist, and we’re looking forward to celebrating with everyone at the Awards Ceremony.”
When the Trees Crackle with Cold is up for a Children’s Literature award and was written by Bernice Johnston-Laxdal and Miriam Korner from La Ronge.
The book invited readers to explore the traditional moon calendar, and is written in both English and Cree.
The book awards will be given out on on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina.
