The legal saga of Gerald Stanley isn’t quite over yet.

The Biggar area farmer will be in court Monday afternoon in North Battleford to face several charges around the improper storage of firearms.

A total of 7 guns found around his farm are the subject in these charges.

Last month during his trial an RCMP Constable testified they found a total of 12 guns on Stanley’s farm.

The one gun not included in these charges is the Soviet Tokarev, which was the gun that fatally shot Colten Boushie in 2016.

At a trial last month, Stanley was acquitted of all charges against him in relation to Boushie’s death. The Tokarev hand-gun played a large role in the evidence presented during the trial.

In the wake of the decision, members of Boushie’s family and Indigenous leaders pointed to this incident as an example of injustices faced by Indigenous people in Canada.

Nearly two weeks ago, Crown prosecutors announced they would not be appealing the decision.

Today’s appearance is scheduled for 1:30pm at North Battleford Provincial Court.
