Saskatchewan RCMP are reporting two more deaths in the province believed to be caused by drug overdose.
Two men were pronounced dead at a home in the community of Maidstone Friday morning.
These two deaths would bring the total of drug overdose deaths in the province over the past week to five.
This past weekend two people died in Saskatoon due an overdose of cocaine laced with fentanyl. A woman who was in a coma because of the same substance, died later in the week.
No word yet if these Maidstone deaths were from drugs purchased by the alleged drug dealers in Saskatoon.
Investigators say they are working with the Chief Coroner’s Office to confirm if these latest possible drug overdoses were caused by the same substance.
Mounties say public safety continues to be their main concern in this situation and are again issuing warnings on the dangers of consuming illicit drugs. Especially at a time where a substance like fentanyl seems to be circulating in Saskatchewan.
Police say if anyone has drugs they believe contain fentanyl to immediately call 911.
Meanwhile, the alleged drug dealers face in the Saskatoon incidents face several drug related charges.
No word yet if a charge in relation to the deaths is possible, but investigators have not yet ruled it out.
