Two new programs for Metis students have been announced by the College of Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan.
The initiatives involve the Gabriel Dumont Research Chair in Metis Studies and Gabriel Dumont graduate scholarships for Metis students.
Both are part of a new five-year partnership agreement between the U of S and Gabriel Dumont Institute.
University officials say the goal is to increase research and teaching capacity, and further develop academic engagement between the two organizations.
The search for the new Metis chair is expected to begin shortly.
The first student scholarships are scheduled to be awarded during the next academic year.
