UPDATE:
April 23, 2018. 11:18am
Highway 915 to Stanley Mission is now open. Please drive with caution as crews are still working on the road.
Small vehicles are advised not to travel the road at this time.
The only road into the northern community of Stanley Mission is currently closed, thanks to a washout.
Highway 915 was closed after a washout and there is no word yet on when the road might be reopened.
Pictures posted on social media show water across the road in two locations and the road surface washed away. It’s not known when the road can be repaired or when it will be reopened.
Stanley Mission Councillor Larry Charles is asking members of the community to be patient while work is underway to rectify the issue.
“Be patient and don’t risk it,” said Charles. “Stay where you are and we will look after you.”
Charles says the community’s grocery store is well stocked in case rebuilding the road is a lengthy process.
In the meantime, drivers should check the Highway Hotline for the latest information.
