A group working to establish a series of biking and hiking trails around La Ronge says the project is moving ahead nicely.
The Boreal Outdoor Recreation Association made a presentation to La Ronge town council last night about a plan to put up signs on existing trails.
Mike Maggrah is a BORA executive member. He says several kilometres of trails already exist on the north end of the town.
“The terrain here is beautiful, the rock and trees and the trails are people’s access to nature,” he said. “Without them, it’s hard for people to appreciate it or get a sense of what is out there beyond the streets, or the one trail that they can use.”
Maggrah says the trails are geared toward hikers, trail runners, mountain bikers and snow-shoers and other non-motorised, human-powered activity.
Several kilometres of trails already exist, mostly north of the La Ronge town site, but BORA is working to set up signs to assist the public in the area.
BORA is now an incorporated non-profit organization and has been raising funds for trail improvements.
