The Souls Harbour Rescue Mission in Regina is set to serve dinner to 500 guests tonight as part of its largest fundraising event of the year.

The Conexus Arts Centre will host the 15th annual Love Your Neighbour Fundraising Banquet.

Souls Harbour Rescue Mission Marketing Director, Deana Struble, says the intent of the event is not only to raise money, but also educate people about the services the organization offers.

“We just all come together to celebrate the things that the Souls Harbour Rescue Mission does in the community,” said Struble. “This year’s event will be just educating a little bit on some of the other programs we have besides our soup kitchen.”

Struble says a fundraising goal was not set for tonight’s event. She says funds raised and donated are appropriated to pay for approximately 90 per cent of programs, including the soup kitchen, daycare, free clothing store and housing program.

“Overall, we serve the community and people that are underprivileged,” said Struble.

The banquet dinner starts at 5:30 p.m.
