The man at the centre of a gun incident on the Peepeekisis Cree Nation Wednesday made his first appearance in a Regina court Friday afternoon.
Patrick Charles Bird is charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, resisting arrest and careless use of a firearm.
A judge denied him bail.
File Hills First Nations police say a man exited the Peepeekisis Medical Centre on Wednesday afternoon, rifle in hand and was engaged by officers.
Police were on hand after receiving a panicked 911 call.
After repeated appeals to drop the weapon failed, officers subdued the man with pepper spray and he was taken into custody.
Authorities say no one was shot in the incident but one woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Bird is due to appear in court again in Fort Qu’Appelle on Thursday.
