After strong seasons, the Cumberland House Islanders and Sandy Bay T-Wolves were knocked out of provincial competition in six-aside high school football on the weekend.
Cumberland House was defeated at home 32-8 by the Hague Panthers.
Drake Carriere had the lone touchdown for the Islanders when he ran the length of the field on a fake punt.
And the T-Wolves lost on the road to the Wakaw Warriors by a score of 50-12.
Quarterback Raddick Maguire threw two touchdown passes in the loss to Gaston McDonald and Cory Spencer.
In spite of the losses, both teams had strong seasons.
Cumberland House went a perfect 5-0 in season play and were back-to-back champions for the Ralph Pilz trophy – the top prize in Northern Saskatchewan football.
Sandy Bay was 4-1 this season with their only loss coming at the hands of the Islanders.
