The La Ronge Ice Wolves have shipped 1999-born forward James Maxwell to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines in the MJHL in exchange for 2000-born forward Peyton Malcolm.
Malcolm spent last season with Neepawa and Waywayseecappo and tallied nine points in 40 games. The Winnipeg product played with Neepawa as a 16-year-old and recorded four points in 38 games.
“Peyton is a guy that’s going into his third year of Junior A hockey here and he’s only 18,” said Ice Wolves Head Coach and GM Evan Vossen. “Looking for some of that experience to come in here, but a pretty quick forward here that brings some skill – and obviously, a little bit of depth to our lineup up front.”
Meantime, the Ice Wolves get back to work on Friday on the road in Melfort versus the Mustangs. La Ronge is off to a 1-5 start, but they will look to build off a 3-1 win on Sunday at home against Melville.
You can catch Friday’s game on MBC, the pre-game show begins at 7:15 p.m. with Braden Malsbury.
