West Wind Aviation has a new CEO.
The northern Saskatchewan airline has appointed Michael Rodyniuk as its head of operations.
Rodyniuk comes with extensive experience in the northern Canadian airline industry.
He most recently served as the chief executive and president of a First Nation owned airline in northwestern Ontario.
Rodyniuk will also serve as president and accountable executive of the company.
Both Athabasca Basin Development and Prince Albert Development Corporation have ownership stakes in West Wind.
He replaces Pat Campling Jr. who had been serving as interim CEO since April.
Campling, one of the company’s founders, took over from Gord Gillespie who had served in the position since 2011.
The airline’s flights had been grounded by Transport Canada after one of its planes crashed shortly after takeoff in Fond du Lac in December, 2017.
Transport Canada reinstated flights in May of this year.
Aside from Fond du Lac, West Wind flies to such far northern communities as Stony Rapids, Uranium City, Wollaston Lake and Points North.
