Saskatchewan’s information and privacy commissioner is calling on the government to investigate the Northern Village of Pinehouse for yet another failure to comply with a freedom of information request.

In a new report, Ronald Kuzeniski says Pinehouse has failed to comply with an Aug. 30 request for information on salaries and related income of Mayor Mike Natomagan, Councillor Conrad Misponas and administrator Martine Smith.

The information requested covers the time period between January 2014 and June 2018.

Nevertheless, Minister of Government Relations Warren Kaeding says he wants to meet with Kuzeniski on Nov. 27 before making any decisions.

“It’s always troubling when we hear about concerns from the privacy commissioner,” he says. “So, we’re taking that very seriously but really what we need to do is understand from the privacy commissioner what he would recommend for a course of action. So, as I say, we are going to be meeting with him Tuesday to try to determine what that course of action may be.”

The report says Pinehouse has continually failed to comply with access to information requests since 2013.

It also says Natomagan and Smith have actively worked to obstruct such information requests.
