Three people have been charged after a shooting on the Montreal Lake Cree Nation on the weekend resulted in the death of a 25-year-old woman.
RCMP were called to a residence on the reserve a little after 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.
An investigation determined an altercation had occurred in the residence and firearm discharged.
Police say they found a 16-year-old male on the scene suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
He was taken to hospital with what are described as non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses told Mounties they saw a black car leaving the scene.
Police later located a car matching this description on Highway 2, near the Christopher Lake turnoff, and after a short pursuit, the vehicle stopped and two male suspects fled on foot .
Trina Bird was found to be unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in the vehicle and later pronounced deceased.
The two suspects were located in a wooded area a short time later and taken into custody.
Wesley Eugene Lachance, 41, Brandon Lee Corrigal, 19, and Jeremy Wade Charles are all facing a number of charges including possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition and flight from police.
